Image from her collection Japanese Melody. Her series on the European continental arctic (Maze, Sampi) are pretty perfect too.

Photography from Emma Malone

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Emma Malone is a photographer who has been traveling the world with her family from the last 11 years, taking amazing photographs. Occasionally, I am lucky enough that she sends me some.

Here is an excerpt from her description of the snow storm:

This week is the Chinese New Year holiday and China is currently
experiencing the biggest snowstorms in fifty years. It has created
chaos as millions of people have been stuck at train stations and on
highways while trying to get home to their families. Chinese New Year
is the one holiday of the year that most workers travel to their home
towns to see their family.

… it has NEVER snowed here in Suzhou…not
like this! There are no snowplows or trucks to put ice on the
roads. Everything has been cleared by hand on the smaller roads and
residential areas.

Wyne Veen is a Dutch photographer and she is extremely good at composing photographs. From the moment the classic painted hand of doom beckons you into her website, you know you are in for something new.

Do I have to say it? Lucky, lucky you.
