Public bike racks with built in tire pump. If this isn’t classically Dutch, what is?
Personally, I prefer the American version.
California Academy of Sciences

“Designed by Mr. Piano on the site of the academy’s demolished home, the building has a steel frame that rests amid the verdant flora like a delicate piece of fine embroidery. Capped by a stupendous floating green roof of undulating mounds of plants, it embodies the academy’s philosophy that humanity is only one part of an endlessly complex universal system.”

Reverse Graffiti Project
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008
By power washing their graffiti designs onto pollution-caked city walls, the Reverse Graffiti Project forces city officials embittered by street art to remove the city’s soot and dirt in order to remove the art.
So, either the city is clean or it’s artful? Sounds pretty win-win to me.
In fact, I like the idea so much I just deleted my commentary about the Reverse Graffiti Project recent advertising work for Clorox’s new “green bleach,” GreenWorks.

Pollution-free, Swedish base rocks - it is “the purest way of cooling your drink - literally ‘on the rocks’.” Stone does not melt (!), which means no unclean water in your glass. To use, simply place the stone ice cubes in the freezer for approximately one hour before use.
They give off their cold gradually and equally - como mi corazon. ZING!

Friday, July 18th, 2008Lilypad: Vincent Callebaut Builds Bluthton
Monday, July 7th, 2008We’ve featured Vincent Callebaut’s visionary green designs before and we are happy to highlight his current muse Lilypads.
Callebaut claims inspiration for his half aquatic, half terrestrial cities from the giant lilypads of the Amazonia Victoria Region and predictions of rising sea levels due to global warming, though perhaps some real life inspiration could equally have come from the floating markets of Kashmir or the gliding villages on the Tonle Sap, Cambodia.
In any case, I’m a little in love with the idea of seasons determined by the pull of oceanic currents.
